Regions Bank has a long history of engagement with the University of Mississippi – from actively recruiting student talent and employing Ole Miss graduates to supporting financial literacy and rural small business owners.

The bank has also helped fund scholarships and participates in the School of Business Administration’s Business Connect Program, which matches companies’ needs with students who have the skills to fill them. In addition, Regions Bank supports the university’s efforts to grow financial literacy and small-business success.

“The educational and economic opportunities of the University of Mississippi reach across the state, the nation and even the world,” said Matt Lusco, chief risk officer of Regions Bank and a University of Mississippi alum. “I’m incredibly grateful for the impact the university had on my career, and I’m proud Regions Bank is part of these important programs that are making a difference in the lives of students, graduates and others who are connected to Ole Miss.”

Regions Bank’s mission is to make life better for the communities it serves. The bank’s collaboration with Ole Miss is an extension of that mission. Regions Bank also partnered to develop a financial education program for Ole Miss student-athletes, taught through the Rebel Life Skills course, and was involved with the Rising to Excellence and Building Success (R.E.B.S.) Summer Program. Further, Regions remains actively involved on campus with multiple executives on various boards.

In 2021, the Regions Foundation, an Alabama-based nonprofit initiative of Regions Bank that supports community investments, provided a funding match for the Mississippi Small Business Development Center. The grant was part of a public-private collaboration to help establish a network of resource centers for small businesses around the state.

“We are committed to removing barriers to success, and we are honored to invest in programs that share our goal of creating more inclusive prosperity throughout our communities,” said Marta Self, executive director of the Regions Foundation. “This initiative from the Mississippi Small Business Development Center will empower more small-business owners with tools they need for success. We are excited to see the results that will be created as part of this initiative.”
